Whispered Pasts
Book 1 of The Custodian Saga. More installments coming.
Time doesn't heal. It reveals.
What if you could go back in time and change the things that went wrong?
When Bryan Denbow and his team unlock the technology to travel through time, they see an opportunity to make a difference in a world filled with tragedy. A life saved here. A disaster prevented there. If they can change the past, perhaps they can give people a future they would otherwise never have had.
But history is more complicated than they imagined. Their early missions seem to prove that even small interventions can make a difference. Yet the consequences of their actions don't always appear where they expect them. Events unfold differently. Lives take unexpected turns. Changes that seem insignificant at first begin to produce results no one could have predicted. And something else is happening. The timeline is becoming unstable, and the team begins to realize that they may not be the only ones traveling through time. Other forces are at work, pursuing their own ideas about what history should become. Bryan has spent years building the technology, assembling his team, and establishing the principles that guide their work. The hardest lesson, however, may be the one he never anticipated: good intentions do not guarantee good outcomes.
As the consequences grow more dangerous, the Custodians must confront the limits of their mission and question the very purpose of their existence. Protecting history is one thing. Deciding which parts of it deserve to be changed is something else entirely. Because the past is never as simple as it looks, and every choice carries a price.
History can be changed. The question is whether humanity is ready to live with the consequences.
